Spaghetti Squash 101

The other day in the supermarket I was suddenly compelled to buy a spaghetti squash, before realizing that I had no idea what to do with it. So I cut it in half the long way, put it face down on a baking sheet at 400 for about 40 minutes. I scooped out the strands, and it tasted pretty good, but the strands were a bit crunchy. Did I undercook it, or is supposed to be this way?

Was this the "correct" way to cook it? Are there any other (better) ways to prepare it?

I dressed it in some butter and fresh parmesian cheese, but I'm interested in making some more creative recipes with it...any ideas? Thanks.....
