Southern Italy lemon ricotta recipe?

LanaG | Sep 9, 201502:18 PM     10

We spent some time in Puglia (Gallipoli) and for some reason I also think I tasted it in northern Italy but perhaps not. We are craving lemon ricott. It's like a light lemon cheesecake. We found it in a cheese shop in southern Italy. I've looked online and can't seem to find a recipe for what we ate and loved. There was no crust. It was slightly sweet. Perhaps 4 inches high. Not garnished with anything. Sold next to the plain ricotta in the deli-cheese section, cut into a wedge and sold with all the cheeses.

I've looked at Food TV and Epicurious and a few other food websites but I just cannot find a recipe that looks familiar. Not interested in biscuits or pancakes or cookies or a regular cake with lots of flour. Can anyone help? We are in Italy now for about a month and craving lemon ricotta "cheesecake" that I hope to replicate/bake.

We are in Sperlonga and no one carries it here. Any suggestions for a great recipe? Thanks so much. Lana.
