South Loop - Chow-worthy destinations?

HungryHoward | Feb 26, 200309:49 AM

This coming weekend my wife and I will be moving into the South Loop (1200 S.). With any move comes lots of unpacking and identifying new surroundings.

As for restaurants, my wife already pinpointed that we'll only be a few blocks from Gioco, Opera and the Firehouse Restaurant. While I, too, enjoy those restaurants, I'd be interested in other, more every-day, chow-worthy spots.

For example, I already expect to be a regular at Manny's and Chinatown's finest. My wife, having grown up in the north 'burbs, has singled out the Printer's Row location of Hackney's for their artery-clogging burgers and onion loaf.

What else should be on our regular hit list? And any pizza places that deliver in this area are also appreciated.
