What's the best widely available (or at least widely available in the South Bay) sourdough around? I want something that's REALLY sour with a firm crust and a chewy interior.
I've tried Semifreddi's Rustic Sour and it had a pretty good texture, but was only kind of sour. Then I tried Acme's Sour Batard because everyone seems to rave about Acme's stuff, but it was so un-sour that it could have almost passed off for a Sweet Batard.
What's the good stuff? Do I need to try Columbo or Boudin? I used to go to Safeway for this sliced round made by a bakery in Santa Cruz that's nice and sour, but I want something with a crustier exterior.
