Earlier today, in an exchange with dave-id, I had the idea to resurrect a query that I'd initiated on this board, in 2001. Below, you will find a link to that original thread.

So, here it is, hounds... when it comes to things of the soup, stew, or casserole persuasion, where do you find your favourite cold weather comforts?

I'll get things started by tossing out one of my longstanding faves, carne en su jugo, at El Taco Veloz, on Chicago Avenue.

The bowl of rich beef broth teems with minced steak meat, pinto beans, and bacon shards. Additionally, you will find minced cilantro, minced white onion, and both avocado and radish slices. The bowl of soup is accompanied by a stack of warmed corn tortillas, and a plate of dried chile de arbol and lime wedges, so that the diner may modify the dish at their own discretion.

For a nutritionally *complete* meal, I generally go with Tecate. Wash, rinse, and repeat!!
