Went to Santa Rosa area Apr 8. For lunch, we stopped at Bovolo in Healdsburg and had a white bean soup with herbs and vegetables that was very good. Also had the pork cheek sandwich which I loved and my did not like at all. (I won't rant on the problems of being married to a very picky and non adventurous though still 'houndly spouse).
Dinner was at Syrah in Santa Rosa. My wife opted for the asparagus soup followed by Josh's justifiably famous crab cakes. These are the crabbiest cakes imaginable. I had a butter lettuce salad which included some fesh grapefruit which was a refreshing and inspired combination followed by the fish special of grilled mahi mahi, crab potatoes and a reduction sauce from shrimp shells. It was excellent, service very good and not intrusive and the wine list seems larger than before. One of my favorite places.
Sunday AM we had the continental style breakfast provided at Hotel LaRose which is a definite "cut above" what these usually are and took home several loaves from Sunflour Bakery in Freestone which we had not been to for too long.
