I've tasted wine and eaten at Soif, the wine bar in downtown Santa Cruz, a number of times. Usually we order a flight of wine, or a bottle.
However, last Saturday was the first time I had ordered a regular glass of wine. I paid $10 for a glass of Alfaro Pinot (Gary's vineyard), which, by the way, was very good.
That is the price you'd expect to pay at almost any restaurant that served that particular wine.
However, the amount of wine in the glass at Soif was about half the amount that you'd get anywhere else.
I have put up with Soif's fussy little portions for food. But given that Soif is supposed to be about wine, I expected a decent pour from them.
So, if you want a glass of wine, Soif is not the place.
