Sodere Ethiopian (and a few others)

Doc from New Orleans | Sep 22, 2004 11:16 PM

We just returned from DC and were happy to learn via City Paper of the "Little Ethiopia" developing near 9th and U. We ate twice at Sodere, enjoying wonderful service and great food both times: raw kitfo, doro wat, fitfit sebhi begee, and even a very credible version of kategna, an Eritrean appetizer they'd never heard of but agreed to prepare after listening to our description. Talk about going the extra mile for your customers! We also enjoyed a good late-night meal at the ominously named but adventurously-menu'd Eat First in Chinatown, as well as Ghana Cafe (small portions there, though), the Malaysian rooftop restaurant in Adams-Morgan (sorry, this old brain can't retrieve the name right now), and of course the Minibar at Cafe Atlantico.
