Around here, I've seen the signs at Pizzeria Gema and Gus (I haven't happened to pass by Santa Barbara or Pastaga). Also Lawrence and La Famille in Mile-End/Plateau.

"Between November 18th and November 22nd, donate a pair of new socks at any of the 6 participating restaurants and receive a glass of bubbly!"

So it may have ended, but I'm sure they are still accepting new socks for homeless people.

This was cool. Mike Finnerty also lives around here, in Villeray:

To kick off the Bas pour Bulles [Socks for Bubbly] charity event in style, a 4-course fundraising dinner with wine pairing ($80) hosted by Mike Finnerty of CBC will be held at Restaurant GUS on November 18th, 2014. The evening’s proceeds will go towards the purchase of socks for the homeless. Limited seating, book your table at 514 722 2175
