There's a new teuchi (handmade-on-premises) soba place opening in Japantown called Suzu. The Japanese owner, originally from Hokkaido, was getting the place ready yesterday and told me that he plans to open in about 2 weeks, or whenever his restaurant inspection is complete. He said he was also going to do ramen, which was a disappointment since the best soba places don't go in for such nonsense. But he sounded sincere about wanting to bring good soba to SF, so we'll see. Located on the first floor below Kinokuniya bookstore.
