Has anybody tried the BBQ at this restaurant? I am planning to sample it soon.
They offer Memphis and St. Louis pork ribs, as well as apple cherry smoked chicken, and smoked prime rib (in a sandwich). No beef brisket and normally no beef ribs, though occasionally that appears as a special.
Although I know that Bub's in Sunderland, MA has its fans, the two tries I have given it were disappointing. As I recall, they just took the BBQ steak out from the fridge to warm it up prior to serving. The all you can eat salads and fixins might have been acceptable in a small-town restaurant in Indiana, but Massachusetts should do better. It certainly does not compare to Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa or even Half Moon in Birmingham.
In Western Mass far better was the City Grill (I think that was the name), unfortunately no longer in business in downtown Northampton -- not a congenial atmosphere for carnivores, and the restaurant in Hatfield/Williamsburg (Was it the Hunter's Lodge??). Both had excellent smoked duck. They had the same chef for awhile and, unfortunately, neither is still in business.
The best BBQ I have tried in New England is Blue Ribbon in West Newton and Arlington, MA and Red Bones in Sommerville, with the former getting the node for the quality of the meat, and the latter for the overall atmosphere.
