Smitty's review

Kitchen Queen | Apr 29, 2008 11:02 PM

I see that Pasadena often gets a bad rap when it comes to quality eateries. S.O. and I dined late at Smitty's on Saturday. The place was packed (8:30P)! We sat out on the back patio hoping to ward off some of the noise. Worked for about 10 minutes but, was far better than indoors.
I ordered house salad. Yummy but $$$ for a basic salad. Then had fresh Halibut w/ veges only - Incredible picece of filet in a lite citrus sauce. S.O. had the chicken pot pie. His meal too was great. (I tasted). We shared a marion sour cherry crumble that comes w/vanilla ice cream... Right down to the Iced tea all was great. The meal, service and atmosphere were fab. I didn't mind paying the 80$ bill! Two weeks ago, it was Flemings Rancho Mirage for Mom's B.D. She shared lobster/filet with my dad and I had sauteed shrimp. Nothing to write home about, food so so (but I didn't try the filet), service par-boiled and the crowd obnoxious! I paid 185$!!! for the evening- I'm tempted to write Flemings and complain that if they maintain such prices they should own up to them! Take example from the little guy on Lake and Green. (not so little really)
