Can you sliver whole almonds in a Food Processor?

pdxgastro | Oct 30, 2009 11:46 AM

I always have whole almonds at home (Costco bag in the freezer). I like to use slivered almonds in desserts and such but they're so expensive at the store. I thought, why can't I make my own?

I would never try to slice them with a knife. (Hello, small hard ovoid objects!) So I was wondering, could one put them into the feeder tube of a Food Processor with the blade positioned in the up position to slice them?

Note: I don't actually own a food processor so I haven't tried this.

Has anyone ever done this? Do you think it would work? What other equipment could I use instead of a FP?
