Went to the Skylark (on 17th ave and 52 St SE) last night ... and it is fantastico. I agree with john that depth of flavour is the true test, and the Skylark's food is sooper-intense. We had the butter chicken, lamb with spinach and the black bean dal, and each was wonderfully spiced. The butter chicken has a bunch of heat, too, which makes it less cloying than elsewhere. These, plus bread, appetizers, beer, tip,: $80. There's also a 9.95 weekday buffet lunch, and unlike elsewhere, you gets masses of food: we'll have leftovers for at least two days.
The breads are great, too, including an onion naan which is spicy as all get out. There's a sweet house at the front, too, so we took home spicy cashews and some jamen (sp?).
