Sketch Chocolate Caramels

Morton the Mousse | Nov 20, 2005 12:05 PM

The new chocolate caramels at Sketch are their most addictive confection yet. As with all Sketch goodies, flavors are very subtle, not at all cloying or overwhelming. Flavor wise, really good balance between the chocolate and the caramel with cocoa nibs giving it just a hint of bitterness. But it's the texture that makes these things dangerous. The texture is near perfect: chewy and light with an amazing mouth feel, and the nibs give it this nice crunch. You can't eat just one. I can honestly say that it is one of the best pieces of candy I have ever had. These are worth the trip to 4th street even if you don't feel like ice cream.
Even though it's an ice cream parlor, Sketch is the best candy store in the Easy Bay. Toffee, caramel corn and candied almonds are all excellent. They also just introduced a line of truffles for the holidays. Though they were a bit too rich for my taste, they are worth seeking out for local truffle fans. They've also been brewing up fresh apple cider for the Fall, which is just incredible. And they're advertising Thanksgiving goodies to order ahead: gingerbread, pumpkin muffins and kabocha ice cream to name a few.
