SIMI VALLEY - New to Town. My favorite finds...

Right, so it's not NYC, Miami or Paris, but if you find yourself in Simi Valley ~ I have suggestions for some very tasty food. I'm talking about the FOOD, not the restaurant chic factor. I'm not a fan of BIG corporate chains - just family owned businesses.

Firehouse Cafe - Corner of Sycamore & Royal. Great food - great service. A wonderful diner vibe for CA.-
Eggs & Things - Located near Trader Joes. I strongly prefer Firehouse Cafe, but it's the next best thing.

Greek House - Cash only - I take out. Don't let its location concern you. This is REAL Greek food and the family who owns the place is delightful. Corner of Sycamore & Cochran.

Bamboo Cafe - Vietnamese. Corner of Sycamore & Cochran. Really delicious PHO (Rice Noodle Soups.) Everything is terrific!

Chi Chi's Pizza - Los Angeles Ave & Stearns. My favorite Italian restaurant in town. I'm half italian - and it reminds me of my gramma's food. Everything made fresh daily - including the pasta. Fabulous pizza and the pasta is YUMO. The antipasta salad is quite tasty. Friendly staff.

Viva La Pasta - Country Club Dr @ Wood Ranch. Really terrific authentic southern Italian food. I have to love it - the owner is from Sicily and has the exact same name as my father. Go figure - really friendly staff and delicious food.

Exotic Thai Bistro - Simi Town Center. When I lived in Miami they had the most delicious Thai restaurants. Who knew? This was a refreshing FIRST find when I moved here and felt culture shock - I've enjoyed every dish every time. Terrific lunch specials. Hip decor, but the music could be a little more hip yoga zenish.

Neda Persian Cuisine - 5225 Cochran. Only have had delivery from here and the food has always been delicious. The owner is one of the nicest men in town.

So in my 1 year of being in Simi Valley and having a 17 month old - that's my 2 cents for anyone needing some guidance and doesn't want El Torrito, California Pizza Kitchen & TGI Fridays.

Best fast food:
The Natural Cafe
Baja Fresh

Ooooo - and there is an Indian Market opening near The Do It Center soon that looks like they will be serving food. Yes, if you can't tell I was a wanderlust in my single days and love international food. : )

Ok - and I just have to say I cannot find a charming coffee shop with LaVazza or Illy Coffee so they best of all chains and specific locations is the Starbucks on Cochran & Sycamore. They consistently make terrific drinks and remember your name.

Please share other favorite finds that are preferably family owned businesses. We ALL know how to find the big chains and their highly processed food. NTY.

Manja! Manja!
