Sides/Cocktails for Winter Smoked Ribs

I thought this might bring up some interesting discussions: We are braving the cold this weekend to smoke some ribs and chickens, and I'm a little perplexed on what to serve with BBQ in cold weather. Hot weather I get, but potato salad on a zillion-below-zero day doesn't appeal.

To complicate matters, I have a dairy allergy so I can't do au gratin potatoes or anything else deliciously hot and cheesy.

Thoughts?
