Not even close. This is THE good place right now, and perhaps for all time.
Go and order the chengdu fish fillet soup (there's a photo in that Yelp link). It's a flat-out "10". So good that two Jews and a lapsed Catholic were groaning about not being deserving. It got very theological. I don't believe I've ever tasted more beautiful, rich-flavored soup broth than this.
Everything is full-throated ma-la, the staff are the loveliest, most sincere, open-hearted folks imaginable, the place is spotless and smells like fresh angel food cake (there is no angel food cake). It's like a dream.
And it was, naturally, completely empty. Please vote with your patronage for beautiful, triumphant food.
I'll return as soon as possible. I'm seriously considering renting a pied-à-terre down the block.
