I just went to Sichuan Fortune in Pleasant Hill. The outside sign said Sichuan Fortune but the menu said China Lounge. I was given the cabbage and peanuts but the cabbage was not so tasty nor as hot as before and the peanuts were not flavored at all. I heard a waitress say the ownership had not changed but I had to wonder about the chef.
I orders DanDan Noodles based on discussions here. I had never had them before so can't really compare. But what I got was not very spicy and was a bit heavy and gloppy. I also had dry fried string beans and they were good.
As I ate I heard the waitresses tell various folks that " we changed that..." Since I'm no expert and don't recall the name of the chefs and particularly the one Melanie referred to as having opened the other one in Walnut Creek
So, anyone know what is going on? Or do I just not like Dan Dan Noodles and have a very high tolerance for heat? It was a disappointing dinner.
