Help! Shorted the butter in cookie recipe-what now?

I am making a slice and bake pecan cookie recipe (http://bakingbites.com/2009/07/butter...). It wouldn't form into logs. So I put it into a container and though well I will just try forming into balls when it is cold. When I went to go to the next recipe I noticed it said 1 cup butter and I had only put half that in. What now? Can I cream the butter and slowly add the rest of the dough? I hate to waste what I have. TIA.
