My wife and I moved to New York almost three years ago, after living in SF for nearly 9 years. We miss the city terriblyespecially since the quality of food/restaurants in New York just can't compare at all to the Bay Area. When we're back in SF, it's a nonstop eating extravaganza, but we need to plan carefully.
I'm looking for recommendations of great places esp. new ones (opened in the last couple of years). We don't need or especially want super high-end. Mostly I'm looking forward to burritos, Truly Mediterranean (16th street), and possibly Slanted Door, but we would like to have one or two special meals at places where the focus is on the kind of fresh ingredients (produce, cheese, etc.) and perfect preparation that we just can't seem to get back East. I'm thinking of Zuni, maybe Jardineiere (Went to Chez Panisse on last visit), as possibilities. Any other recommendations? Thanks.
