Short-notice solo dining: light meal, wine, budget, Friday?

Hi all,

I've been keeping up with all the threads these days, but have a specific question about my predicament tomorrow. I'm heading into NYC and staying with my sister, who is too busy to do dinner with me; all other potential dining companions (parents, s.o.) seem to have backed out. I'm 21, will be in (nice-looking) jeans and hiking boots, and am thinking about treating myself to something a little less casual than a bowl of noodles or a banh mi.

I was thinking 'inoteca, but is it going to be insane on a Friday, and will I feel uncomfortable alone & casual? I'm basically just looking for someplace along those general lines (light meal, glass of wine, non-dive), and am willing to go early to miss the dinner rush. (Nothing more expensive than Lupa, please.)

Any recommendations (or thoughts on 'inoteca) would be greatly appreciated.
