Shopsys-Update(front+yonge) and Pickle Barrel

I decided to re-visit Shopsys last week. I had lunch there. I'm afraid that Shopsys has become rather third rate! First, the service=the waiter ignored me for 30 minutes before taking my order. Second, the coffee,(even though Second Cup) was cold. Third=Shopsys has decided to ruin their tradition. Once a great deli=now a rip-off!! They have eliminated two of their wonderful and formerly legendary deli sandwitches=Hot Tongue, and Baby Beef. The soup=Mushroom and barley tasted like canned soup. I had a hotdog=for $5.99=this is a hotdog?! Overcooked, lousy bun, crummy fries, awful looking tomato. I can get a great hotdog, for $2.00,from any vendor by Bloor and Avenue Road-it will be a real old fashioned Shopsys. A sad decline of a once great deli in Toronto. On another hand,Pickle Barrel-Eglinton and Yonge=went there for dinner last night. SoupChicken Soup-oh,it was ok,rather salty, and it had to be sent back to be warmed up. Coffee was ok. Ordered Kiska for whole family-it was ok,but also had to be sent back to be warmed up. The service, though sweet-natured,was not too organized. The deli sandwitch-Baby Beef-very good. Rare and juicy as I had asked for. Though it too had to be sent back to be warmed up. Desserts-except for the Rice Pudding(it was terrible) IT DID NOT TASTE LIKE "BASILS"!!!!! Anyone here recall Basils,or The Noshery? (Now long gone)
