need help for S.F. early dinner on Fri.

Ann | Jan 9, 200105:56 PM     11

2 of us will be tired and (always) hungry on Friday
evening after frantic errand-running probably culminating in the Union Square area. What would be a good choice for an early dinner before heading back across the G.G.? Close to Union Sq. would be great, but we could drive and park. We'd love something reasonable and casual, funky is fine. Any type of cuisine is o.k. as long as it's well prepared. If parking is not impossible that would be a help. (Scala's is usually crammed and we're a little tired of it.)
I am so impressed with the astute opinions of the contributors to this site. I almost always agree, if I am familiar with the subject. It's a treat to get tips from those who are out there foraging.
