SF dine about town- Piperade-long

Made a 6:00 pm reservation on Janurary 3- the latest allowed for sfdineabouttown. There was only one other table occupied at the time. We got menus fairly soon, but there was no indication of the sfdine special on the menu. I asked the waiter and he curtly told me "there is a crab salad and sea bass". I decided to order the special with the caveat to the waiter to check to see if there was any other seafood in the salad{severe allergies to mollusks]. He never came back to tell me and instead of crab there was what appeared to be lobster instead- miscommunication from the kitchen. The sea bass preparation was sauteed with spinach and a light tomato sauce- very good. My husband ordered the serrano ham, chicken duet- not well described by the waiter-. The service was polite, but not attentive at all. We were given the dessert menu and I was told that I could order anything with my special. I had the beignets- more like donuts- but warm and not greasy. My hubby ordered the yogurt and fruit dessert. This was my first visit to Piperade and I was only moderately impressed. As a former food professional, I usually put more "weight" on the food than service, but the mediocre service definitely influenced my experience.
