new SF cheese shop

Leonard of Leonards 2001 [Polk/Pacific] has sold his business to go travel. The new place is called Cheese Plus. I went in Friday and they had much new stuff [and they said Leonard said he'll stop by to help when he is in town]. Lots of free samples for the opening. very knowledgible staff. They were out of Cowgirl Creamery Red Hawk, and the staff was rattling off alternatives and knew the processes used to make them. Customer was happy with the suggested substitute.

I was intrigued by a Tasmanian triple cream, and was told it is made in a different process than Red Hawk, but was given a little sample. And other samples.

They have quince paste, flavored mozzarella balls, butters from New Zealand to Ireland. And did I mention a very knowledgible staff? Not cheap, but not snobby, and will ask if what they recommend is in your price range.

Very enthusiastic and knowledgible.

They have also applied for a liquor license, to feature complementary wines. Jug Shop isn't worried.
