How SF Bay Area shaped how America eats

San Francisco does a little breast-beating in The Chronicle's Food Section today with a deailed survey of SF Bay Area culinary pioneers and firsts. There are a couple of omissions and inaccuracies that I noticed, but otherwise gives those of use who live here some serious bragging rights. Among the zingers: the first Starbucks served Peet's coffee.

No mention of the fact that the first Chinese restaurant in North America opened in SF in 1849, though.
