Settle a BBQ Etiquette Disagreement, Please?

Hello Chowhounders!

I've just come back from a trip and my husband has decided he would like to have a barbecue tomorrow for the 4th of July. I'm happy to host - we like to entertain and keep everything (menu, decor, etc.) laid back. We've invited about a dozen folks, most of whom we've spent time with before but I would still qualify as acquaintances and/or new friends rather than old friends.

Husband wants to serve pork ribs, burgers, chicken, a slew of side dishes (all vegetarian), and a light dessert. One of the invited guests is a Muslim. He does not eat pork but will eat at restaurants that serve it. He has mentioned drinking in passing but to date, I've never seen him consume alcohol. (I assume this is something that he does only on rare occasions?)

I am of the opinion that it would be rude to serve pork ribs; husband says it is not.

(Full disclosure: Waiting for his confirmation of attendance before I just ask him personally/directly... because getting it straight from him is obviously best practice here.)

So, entertainers and ettiquete observers - anyone have a few seconds to weigh in? To serve or not to serve?
