old set of cuisinart blades in old cuisinart processor continued

OK, found the older thread about an old set of 10 blades, and the dlc7 . but no similar issues to mine:
I inherited both from my dad and decided to use them.. No stem, so ordered a replacement, Everything fit well & I think it loaded correctly. Started shredding carrots... it shredded one, then the little piece that was left caused a whammy- crash bang boom, blade disconnect from the stem and frustration. Tried to reset everything, and ditto. ((The processor is heavy as heck too and the feed tube thingy is stuck inside ( but that is an aside) )). So- what do you think? should I invest in a new processor ? new bowl? another stem?
