What to serve with shortribs?

Yikes! I'm a newlywed cooking dinner for my parents and in-laws as they meet for the first time! What stress! So I know I'm going to serve a cracked crab for a first course then red wine braised short-ribs, but with what? I was thinking a braised bitter green? But what starch? I want something do-ahead, so I can be at the table, not the stove!
