I've seen the posts that have been made over the past week and I'm a suburbanite who is also spending Saturday night downtown with my lovely bride before the Sunday morning Bike The Drive and we're looking for some place nice and out-of-the-ordinary for dinner.
The challenging attached caveats include the following:
* Wife is a quasi-vegetarian. She'll do chicken, turkey or fish, but nothing that hails from a critter with four legs. Feathers or fins, only.
* "Chicken" is defined as "boneless, skinless chicken breast"
* It can't be buried under a sauce or too spicy
I really, really, REALLY don't want to fall back to Italian food. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I checked the menus for Chilipango, MK, N9ne, Blackbird and a host of other suggestions which have been posted here and they all have me salivating...and her non-plussed. We thought tapas and have done Cafe Iberico, so it is a possibility. Indian and Thai are out. She doesn't do sushi.
I beg that somebody who has a better grip on the dining scene down there can offer me some advice (We're staying at the W Lake Shore Drive). Our normal downtown haunts (because we've identified 'safe' menu items) are West Town Tavern (moment of silence for Zinfandel...thank you) and the Atwood Cafe.
