Hello... This weekend I stood on our second story patio and heard the faintest tinkling of gloriously monotonous ice cream truck chime music, beckoning. Never ever heard this before in our neighborhood (SFV). This must be the purest quintessence of childhood's soundtrack. My reverie stirred, my first inclination was to break into a dead run and track down that truck, and the notion actually made me giddy. But the sound fell away like the disappearing jacaranda blossoms... Can anyone inform me: are their still neighborhoods where a Good Humor ice cream truck (or for that matter, any local variant) still reliably cruises the late afternoon/early evening streets. I'm looking for the whole deal: an actual truck (not a push cart) with a colorful display on the side opening, with a driver who wears one of those belt-mounted silver coin changers. Ice cream bars, rocket shaped red/white/blue popsicles, drumsticks, etc.. I guess I want to be my five years old self, if for no longer than the time it takes for a creamsicle to melt.
