Seeking Classic Apple Picking & Cider Mill Experience

Rich Signell | Oct 1, 2005 10:20 AM

Where I grew up (in Michigan) there was this little orchard/cider mill where you could pick your own apples, and then watch them press (unpasteurized) apple cider and have fresh hot homemade doughnuts, right out of the fryer.

No hayrides, no plastic jack-o-lanterns, no huge crowds, just great apple picking, cider and doughnuts.

Where would you go in Mass or greater New England to get this kind of experience (or come as close as possible?)

And while I'm dreaming of the perfect spot, it would be nice if it had scenic surroundings and if there were places close by to take a nice walk with the dog... ;-)
