I'm here with a beef. I've been to The Patio (more than eight times at all 3 mealtimes. Both locations.) Every time I've been shown to horrible tables, with or without reservations. Last night it happened again. At 5.30, with reservations, I asked if we could sit in the front section: told we could not, tables had been booked for later: when we left 3 hours later the entire front area was empty. (Every older dinner party who arrived was seated in the back area. I watched.) It also happened at Bottega Americano recently, where I refused several tables against the wall, until we were seated in a central area that suited me. I believe it's my age, and that these places are giving the best tables to younger, prettier people.
Just returned from Oakland. Dined out every night at great places with middle-aged friends. Never had an issue with where we were seated. OK, am I paranoid? Need a makeover? Make my husband slip the host a tip?
