First up will be Joanne Chang's places. In the first season, other than Simply Khmer, in Lowell, I can't recall seeing her with any cooks who were not Latino. Hopefully the upcoming shows will focus more on discovering interesting food than on the nationality of the people preparing it. The title remains problematic....to most folks, it implies smallish local places, but the first season showcased, for the most part, very well-known spots. True, every restaurant that isn't out in the middle of nowhere is in some sort of neighborhood, but I don't think the average viewer would have expected the Liberty Hotel's upscale Scampo to have been included.
