In search of the real Californian burrito

Cali-NY | Feb 1, 2004 11:25 AM

So I've been in NY now for about 6 months and have been on a conquest for a real burrito...California style. I really haven't found anything that satisfies my appetite yet (And to make matters worst, Chipotle, a McDonald's company, is the closest thing I have had but I have problems buying a McD's burrito). I have heard you can find good burritos on the upper west side and there are places in Queens. Anyone know where these places are? Also since I live in the Grammercy area I was wondering if there are there any good places near here?
I am not looking for a place like Dos Caminos or La Palapa. I am looking for the down home good burrito shop that's not going to cost more than $8 and serves little more than quesadillas, tacos and burritos (Sorry but Burritoville is the worst place ever...brown rice in burritos? What are they thinking?). I prefer good carnitas or other mexican pork but I am down with carne asada and the likes.
If anyone can suggest a good place you will be my hero.
