OK, hounds, I'll say it pure and simple: me and the wife will be down in "Nawlin's" for about 5 nights right after Thanksgiving. We visited for five nights about 2 years ago at Christmas, and I was quite disappointed. I'm not interested in paying a potfull of money for dinner at top rated joints in the French Quarter. They probably wouldn't seat us with jeans and sports shirts anyway. Please give me a list of the places with the best seafood values. I LOVE raw oysters, and the last time down there we drove umpteen miles down that little peninsula south toward the gulf looking for places that were recommended by chowhounds for oysters on the half shell, only to find out that they only serve oysters fried (special license needed to serve them raw). We will be staying at the DoubleTree Inn near Harrah's casino, but will have a rental car. If the best places are jammed with tourists, thats OK, but there must be places that the locals frequent, and I would really appreciate hearing about them! THANK YOU!!!
