I recently moved here from the Bay area and am loving the weather...but struggling with everything else including the food scene. I plan on making day trips into TJ to sample all the street food I can. I would also like to hear from anyone who may have recommendations for really "outta this world" food down there.

For those that have eaten on both sides of the border and can provide recommendations in SD, that would be appreciated too.

I don't limit myself to just Mexican food. I love all kinds of good tasting food. I enjoy most ethnic foods, and I'm actually looking for a place that serves good "cho do fu" or stinky tofu. The little restaurant "168" in the same complex as Ranch 99 serves it, but it's not very strong=good.

Also if you folks have recommendations for San Felipe and Ensenada please share as I'll be heading down during the president's weekend.

My theory on street/hawker stand food. It's usually family owned and thus the food has to be good and cheap because the family depends on it as a major source of income. Of course one must be careful in selecting the stalls, but seldom have I been dissappointed with the food. Those times I have been dissappointed, I throw away the food, which amounts to pennies.
