Scones on the Westside

Frank | Jul 30, 200401:14 AM

First of all, I've already tried searching past posts for scones around here.

I'm bringing scones for my mom's afternoon tea party, and need some Westside suggestions.

I tried Amandine's scones and for some reason they just don't do it for me (but the croissants absolutely do). I've also tried the British store in Santa Monica, and those were so dry I could scrub my pots with them.

Believe it or not, when I called Le Pain Quotidien in Santa Monica, they didn't know what scones were. I also called Provence on Montana Ave., and they've never even heard of scones. Isn't that funny?

My back up plan is ordering them from The Peninsula Hotel (they're $4 for 2). But, I know there must be some place that's better out there.

Thanks a mil.
