Old School Italian

I'm coming next week to NYC to meet my entire birth family for the first time ever (I'm 43 and am meeting my birthmother and four brothers and their families) and want to take them to a really great moderately priced Italian restaurant (Little Italy?). My birthmom is from Benevento in Campagna in southern Italy and we have a restaurant here in San Francisco, A16, that features truly magnificent Campagna-inspired cuisine with an amazing all-southern Italian, Sicilian and Sardinian wine list. Anyone familiar with it in NYC that can recommend something similar, or a really great red-sauce southern Italian place?

Haven't been to Manhattan in 10 years so I'm really excited (and incredibly nervous). We're all staying at the Embassy Suites in Lower Manhattan (good choice for families I think, with the two-room suites, and away from the tourist mobs in Mid-Town).

Thanks...
