Had the pleasure of Chow touring the northeast GTO on a recent visit to my family and used a couple of recent threads as my guide. Thanks TO hounds. You have real gems in this part of the city with a real richness in inexpensive and authentic ethnic eateries. Here is a short description of three days of eating.

Shark’s Fin City (Pacific Mall Heritage food court) roast duck roast pork rice plate 5.99 pretty good and the skin on the duck was notably good.
Sun’s Kitchen (Pacific Mall Heritage food court) wonton soup with hand pulled noodles 5.99 really excellent noodles.
Mr. Jerk (Highway 7 near Kennedy) Jerk chicken thigh 3.50 good taste and value. Smoked and some pimento wood flavor added.
Mr. Fish and Chips (Highway 7 near Kennedy) Excellent pollock and chips $6.99
Izakaya Ju (Jtown) Really good and authentic Jtown in general is a find and hope to try the ramein place next time. Hits yakitori chicken with leek, wings, pork belly with garlic scapes, scallop sashimi, torched BC tuna, chawan mushi, soba noodles, udon noodles with pork. Only Miss was tempura shrimp, which had a very weird coating.

None Such Jerk (Warden at Lawrence) Excellent pork and plaintain sandwich on coco bread. Even good the next day
Empire Shwarma (Lawrence near Pharmacy) excellent value and taste Chicken and beef sandwiches for $5.99
Star Wok Buffet (Silver Star Blvd near Steeles) not bad for the price (12.99 for lunch)
Folco’s (Main Street Markham) OK and reasonable value. highlight was the tagliatelle Bolognese.

Mike’s BBQ (Sheppard at Brimley) roast pork and char siu rice plate: OK siu yuk, worst char siu ever, I tossed the box after a couple of bites
Perfect Restaurant (Sheppard at Brimley) Very good value but there is better dim sum in TO.
Danny’s Fish and Chips (Highway 7 near Kennedy) OK but dry I had a small piece of reheated halibut, so not a fair comparison with Mr. Fish and Chips.
