scanicchios - thanks bashful

Thanks to bashful I tried scanicchios saturday night and had a great time. Food was really good and portions were more than ample.

We started out with the fig and sausage app that bashful recommended. Soooooooo good, and big and filling (could easily have been my meal - 9). Then my husband had the pork chop special, one of the biggest center cut pork chops i've ever seen (outside of sabrina's (which is terribly underrated - but i digress) - easily a pound) served ontop broccli raab and roaste peppers, and with broccli and potatoes (22 - we had to take more than 1/2 home).

I got the house salad (4.5 - huge and different with dried cranberries , nuts and olives) and the appetizer of mussels and clams in red sauce (9) plentiful and not a grain of sand (which irritates me to no end whe i order shellfish out).

We split the homade marscopone creme cake (think of pound cake fille with canolli creme - 6) and had it with two complementary shots of limonchello.

Food was very good, service was excellent, decor was very south philly (nothing fancy, not as pretty as say l'anglo)
