One of my favorite memories when studying in Copenhagen, was riding my bike to the bakery and sharing a loaf of Kanelbrod with my friend. For just a few bucks we'd have breakfast and lunch covered! If we got there too late they would be sold out and we'd be heartbroken.
I was at the new Swedish coffee shop, Konditori, on Bedford Avenue this morning. They had a pastry called Kanelbulle which looked pretty similar to a Danish Snail and made me really miss my days eating Kanebrod. It was not fresh enough or cinnamony enough for me. But it got me wondering if there are any places in New York to get fresh Danish baked goods or something close to it.
Do any of the Scandinavians out there have any great bakeries to try? And feel free to educate me on the differences and similarities between the baked goods of these countries.
