Saute, Omlet, skillet or Fry pan?

I hate to sound like a total nube her, but can someone please clear up a burning question for me? What exactly is the difference between Saute, omlets and frying pans? And what classification does the plain old skillet fall into?

It used to be so simple, but now they have so many different types of pans to choose from that it gives me a headache.

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance =0)
