Saul: Good Food, But Horrid Service Experience

Eight of us had 6PM reservations for a Saturday night. Food was for the most part very good, but the service was unfortunately noteworthy.

An amuse bouche of a lentil soup was brought. A few minutes later, the waiter noticed we had no spoons, and brought them (some of us were under the impression that it was meant to be picked up and drunk directly from the miniature tureen it was served in).

There was a VERY long wait between the appetizers and the entrees.

We had our elderly, eighty-something parents with us, one of whom has a serious allergy to garlic, and both of whom are not used to "modern" restaurant ways, i.e. they like the food cooked through. We quietly noted this to the waiter, who was terrific about it and understood . Their two chicken entrees were brought out first. About five minutes later, the rest of our entrees were brought; unfortunately, some of what was brought to us was not what we ordered. A few minutes after that, another chicken entree arrived, with the question, "Who gets the chicken with no garlic?". Not good!

Dessert came. Another few minutes until the waiter noted we again had no spoons!

After we paid the check, someone started bringing over "our desserts". Wrong table.

I have to admit that somehow, the staff seemed to really care, but the execution was just awful.
