Santa Clara - El Camino Survey

Melanie Wong | Feb 15, 200202:08 AM     5

One of the fun things about posting on Chowhound is uncovering the secret ‘hounds among one’s friends and acquaintances who may be lurking here. The latest was my friend Barry who greeted me last night with “how are things on the chow roads?” and proceeded to tell me about his project of eating his way down El Camino in Santa Clara. Like Rochelle, he’s taking them in order and has a fairly strict “no waiver” rule.

So far he has two to recommend. Just Burgers and Cue (not sure of the spelling), 2141 El Camino Real, that features Alabama style barbecue. He said the pork sandwich is more than decent, although the sauce is a on the sweet side, and the sweet potato pie is special here. The second one is Gaesung House of Tofu, 2089 El Camino Real, which has been reported here before, for its silken tofu soups and the dozen panchan appetizers that come with your dinner. Right now he’s stuck somewhere in Mervyn’s Plaza . . .
