Renaud's Patisserie - Arlington Plaza - Santa Barbara, CA

I tasted Europe today. Not being able to travel abroad brings great sadness missing the unique tastes and flavors of the travel experience - so often never duplicated in pale comparison when reproduced in the US. But t he moment I sipped my cappucino, in its unfortunate paper cup and wooden stick stirrer, I did feel that I was yet again "tasting Europe".

Paired with a fine croissaint that only Renaud's makes in this town, it was a mini-trip to badly missed far away places. Where else stateside can we really taste with authenticity, or at least enough authenticity to pretend for a few moments we are are back....... over there?
