san ramon pho or dimsum?

handyman | Apr 3, 200309:06 PM

Hi all,

As a transplant from San Leandro, a trip to Oakland Chinatown was always in the works. Though only 20 minutes further away, I am trying to expand my vision to the area I now live, which wasn't in my field of view previously.

I know there is a Pho place near police headquarters in Pleasanton that I have not been to. And Diablo Magazine lists a Vietnamese place and a Korean place in Walnut Creek. We have not tried any of them, as of yet, though we were impressed by Jitr Thai in Alamo.

Can anyone recommend a good dimsum place that will rank with all the favorite downtown Oakland favorites out here in the San Ramon Valley area? Especially for a Sunday morning brunch time of day?

And good Pho places too? And Korean? We are fond of the "hole in the wall" kinda places, so don't be shy.

Any comments on some of the above listed places?

Tried Back Forty BBQ in San Ramon last week. Was highly dissapointed. Ribs decent, chicken great. Beans horrible. Makes Emil Villa Hickory Pit seem damn decadent................

Thanks in advance. I can taste that dim sum in my mind now..............

Regards to all who answer.
