San Francisco Wholesale Produce Market

Bay Area Backroads just had an interesting segment on this market near the Alemany Farmer's Market. I always thought that you had to own a business to shop there, but it turns out that anyone can shop there.

The caveat is that you have to buy by the case and the market hours are 1 am - 8 am. The suggestion was to get there no later than 2 am for the good stuff.

Also interesting was that the original market was located on the Embarcadero prior to moving to it's current location. Ah, the circle of life, veggie vendors return this year to the Embarcadero.

Has anyone been?

Hmmm, getting to Alemany at 6 am was a big deal. Well, who knows. It's 2 am, the bars have closed, what to do? Right, cruise the wholesale market. (of course I would take public transportation).

Here's the link to the segment. you can link to the market from there. The "Fresh News" is sort of interesting.
