Just came from the Italian Market and saw along with barrels of olives, artichokes and marinated peppers whole salted sardines. I bought a couple and asked how to use them. I was told to remove the bones andrinse them and then mash them into butter as a spread.
First question, do I just brush off the salt with a pastry brush? Has anyone tried this mashed into butter? If so, do I add anything else to the mixture. And finally are there any other suggestions on how to use them?
